Meet Christopher Lynch the author of Chicago Midway's Airport: the first seventy-five years. Midway was Chicago's first official airport, and for decades it was the busiest airport in the nation, and then the world. Its story is an American story, encompassing heroes and villains, generosity and greed, boom and bust, progress and decline, and in the final chapter, rebirth. Join Christopher Lynch as he combines oral histories, narrative, and historic and contemporary photos to celebrate the rich and exciting 75-year history of this colorful airport and evolution of aviation right along with it. Come fly with us to another era of air travel on Thursday, June 15, 2006 at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room, lower level. Everyone is welcome!

Melissa Fraterrigo, Author of "The Longest Pregnancy: Stories, will be at the Lansing Public Library on Thursday, June 8, 2006 at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room. This collection of stories confronts the problems of modern day life through fantastical means, many of them set in a recognizable Midwest.
The bold characters in these fourteen stories are humorous, grotesque, and painfully human. In the title story, a recovering alcoholic courts a woman who is six years pregnant. "The Shark Swimmers" tells the tale of a teenage girl who squanders her coming-of-age years in the limelight of a water show for a thrill-seeking audience. While many of the stories are wildly fantastic, readers will also be riveted by the human complexities and hope that run throughout "The Longest Pregnancy."
Join us for this presentation by a Lansing native! Everyone is welcome!
